Low Tide Shelling Guided Tour on Shackleford Banks

During this guided walking tour, your experienced and knowledgeable Naturalist will take you around Shackleford Banks to collect seashells. We cannot guarantee we will find shells. However, your Naturalist will show you some of the best spots to find some amazing shells!

Please be aware that there are no facilities on Shackleford Banks, as it is a natural barrier island. We recommend bringing water, snacks, sunscreen, and other necessities you may need while on this tour. You will be walking on sandy terrain, so be sure to wear shoes that you wouldn’t mind getting sandy and a little wet.

Please check in at the Island Express Ferry Service ticket booth at 600 Front Street in Beaufort at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled time. You will then be directed to your Naturalist and will board the ferry to Shackleford Banks. Price includes ferry fare.

Note: Since this tour is based on the tides, it is not offered on a set schedule. Tour availability begins in April and ends in September. Check our calendar to see when the next available guided shell tour is!
